Critical Thinking is purposeful and reflective judgment
about what to believe or do in response to observation,
experience, and expression. This skill is being lost as
fast as creativity is being cut from our educational
experience. Too often we believe the tools of technology
can replace this necessary part of our intelligence, and we
are losing our ability to actively engage. Art education
awakens our critical thinking abilities. Art education
combined with technology can inform us in ways we have
never dreamed of before, if like anything, we are willing
to work.
In the classroom it is my goal not only to teach
technology, (giving my students a proficient skill level
with visual software) but also to push my students to use
these tools to answer questions about themselves and about
the world they live in.
